One of the great things about a thunderstorm this time of year is that its passing is the signal for a chorus of all the local songbirds. The blackcap kicked in first followed very shortly by the wren, both singing just long enough to make it clear they're around. They'd no sooner finished than the blackbirds started, joined intermittently by the woodpigeons and collared doves. The robin's still quiet but he's been singing all day, I think he reckons his rivals know he's around.
