I'm unwell today, after a particularly bad night and the day's plans for one last rush at the year list had to be dumped in the skip, which is suboptimal. Man proposes and God disposes and all that. I'd managed to persuade myself I'd be okay for a toddle round Cob Kiln Wood or Stretford Meadows, I didn't even make it round the block.
So it's a sulky day at home watching the sparrows empty the feeders as quickly as I can fill them. I'd actually underestimated how many spadgers are coming in and they were bustling about so much it's entirely possible I've undercounted. They had some help at lunchtime as five goldfinches dropped in for half an hour.
