One of them birds

I may have mentioned before that I find gulls hard work at times. This morning was one of those times. There were dozens of black-headed gulls on the school playing field with a few herring gulls, common gulls and a lesser black-back. And one gull playing Billy No-Mates in a far corner. There was something not quite about it. Luckily it was Sunday morning so I could point binoculars and a camera that way safely. The "not quite" I'd unconsciously picked up was a long straight beak and gently sloping forehead giving the impression of a stick stuck into a potato. For now I've got it down as a particularly snouty herring gull.
