Third quarter review

Gannets, Bempton Cliffs

September saw the 200th entry on my year list — despite my spending parts of July and August hiding from the hot weather — and ending the month on a count of 204. I really should set myself a new goal for the year to stop myself resting on my laurels.

Turkestan shrike, Bempton Cliffs

Greater sand plover and black-headed gulls, Redcar

Black-browed albatross, greater sand plover, red-legged falcon and Turkestan (or red-tailed in old money) shrike were added to my life list and I saw my second purple heron. I also finally visited Bempton Cliffs and Marton Mere after years of havering about getting to them (they both turned out to be dead easy).

Red-footed falcon, Marton Mere
