An overnight very light dusting of snow was a herald of Winter. And with the first snow in the garden came the arrival of the first chaffinch of Winter, a male. I don't know why they're only Winter visitors. Similarly the goldcrest, usually a distant dot in the trees came in close to glean from the rose stems.
