I didn't fancy being madly windswept and interesting today and neither did the garden birds. The usual crowd of spadgers and titmice was notably absent, the birds creeping in through the rose bushes, grabbing a seed from the big feeder and disappearing as quick as they arrived.

It was different again over the road on the school playing field. Strong winds always bring in gulls and today was no exception even if the numbers are historically low, and not even high by recent standards. The jackdaws and magpies were evidently keeping under the cover of the school buildings, they've been in double figures all week. Conversely, the starlings which have been flying between rooftops all week settled in the trees in the school yard to wait out the wind.
